Master One Healthy Habit

How do we start living a healthier lifestyle? Well the easiest way is to pick one thing and master it before moving on to something else.

The biggest mistake people make when trying to make new positive choices in their life is to make too many changes all at once. We do not work well with change as humans and it is extremely likely that before you know it, your old habits will come back around to reaffirm who you used to be. The secret is to take one step at a time and make sure that you are on firm ground before you take your next step. So, start with ONE new habit and hold onto that practice for several weeks before adding something entirely new to the program. You can add habits as you feel confident in the knowledge that the ONE habit you have focused on, is something you have become a master of. Here are a list of good habits you can choose from. I encourage you to chose one and make it your mission to become a MASTER of one of these.

  • Drinking half of your body weight in ounces each day

  • Going to sleep and waking up the same time every day (this includes weekends)

  • Eating nutritious meals that are balanced (1/3 High quality protein, 1/3 Green vegetables, 1/3 starchy vegetables/grains, 1-3 tbsp of high quality fats

  • Exercise daily - even if it is just walking, commit to moving your body every day

  • Mindfulness practice - meditation or journal every day for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes)

  • Creativity - express your inner child with creative endeavors - paint, draw, dance, sing, imagine, or design something every day
